Year Running: 2016/2017
Credit level: F7
Pre Uni Qualification   It is expected that students for this course will have already undertaken at least three year's worth of intensive study of the Chinese language or its equivalent.

Description

This module aims to provide students who have already achieved an upper intermediate level of Chinese with an opportunity to extend their reading, comprehension and speaking skills through study of themed 'real' Chinese language texts taken from a wide range of sources, including newspapers, journal, literature and the internet (with increasing amounts of material in unsimplified/traditional characters in relevant classes). All classes revolve around a weekly theme in order to facilitate the acquisition of not only core vocabulary and grammar, but also certain knowledge of certain aspects of politics and economics in China, such as national identity, minorities, state power and popular movements.
